15. The Killers (1946)
Fascinating film noir classic told in flashbacks.
It starts with the death of Lancaster’s character by two hitmen. In order to seek out the beneficiary of his insurance policy,a life insurance investigator played by Edmond O’Brien,seeks out and interviews the people in Lancaster’s life in an attempt to piece together his story.
It’s a really good tense,atmospheric thriller,full of twists and turns and stands up to repeated views.
Ava Gardner was smoking hot.
